All our 15 year ground contact guaranteed timbers are UC4 treated, e.g.
Fence posts, decking joists, retaining walls.
Redwood timber
We only use redwood timber, this allows treatment penetration to
the heart of the timber. This provides protection of sapwood
even when timber opens up. Whitewood timber resists penetration
of the treatment chemical. At best only 6mm can be obtained.
Even small splits will breach protective barrier and allow
fungal and insect attack.
Dried to 28% moisture
All redwood posts in ground contact are dried to 28% moisture
content or less, allowing deep penetration of the treatment
solution.
Korasit market leading solution
The main element of any treatment is the treatment solution
itself. We ensure our redwood posts are treated by the Korasit
solution, the most effective treatment on the market at present.
Air layered drying
By spacing each layer when drying, air is able to circulate
through the pack. Not only does this prevent fungal growth
staining the timber, it reduces drying times and allows
treatment solution to fully penetrate each individual post in
the pack.
Posts identity stamped
Each guaranteed post is stamped with an identifying mark. In the
unlikely event of one of our posts failing during the 15 year
guarantee period, our customers are able to trace where and when
the post was purchased. Previously it has been difficult to
prove the origin of any defective post.
Although there is a price premium for the 15 year guaranteed ground contact timber it does provide the customer with peace of mind that their investment will be protected for this period.
